Philippine International Mathematics Competition (PIMC 2009) to be held in Visayas Region, Philippines from 28th November to 2nd December 2009.
The competition will be hosted by the Mathematics Trainers’ Guild (MTG), Philippines with full recognition, endorsement and support of the Department of Education and Department of Science and Technology. This competition is composed of the 2009 Asia Inter-Cities Teenagers Mathematics Olympiad (AITMO)- Lower Secondary level and 2009 Philippine Elementary Mathematics International Contest (PEMIC)- Primary(or Elementary) level which will be conducted simultaneously under the general title or identity, Philippine International Mathematics Competition 2009.
The objectives of the PIMC 2009 are to:
1. To provide an opportunity to exchange information on mathematics education and practice throughout the world.
2. To foster friendly relation among students, coaches and leaders worldwide.
3. To give gifted elementary students the opportunity to show their mathematics potential.
4. To provide opportunity to develop, guide and improve the mathematics curricular offerings from different countries.
The international competition is expected to be participated by over 100 teams from 30 countries and territories in Asia, Africa, Europe, North America, and Australia. The selection of the participating teams will be on a fair basis.

Got your emial with regards to the entry of two primary school teams. Due to the timing of the competition our high schools will not be able to attend as per your request in our last email. We can however include two more primary school teams if we dont have to pay for their accommodation and all the other costs. Please let me know if you this is possible so that I can start finalising the tour group.

This a an international mathematics competition, contest problems that will be adopted by the Jury Committee will be totally new and never seen before. The type pf problems given must use the techniques of problem solving. Topics: Number Theory, Counting Techniques, Geometry and Measurement, Word Problems, and Calculation Skills.
